Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Longwood was the setting on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 26th, 1953 for the marriage of Miss Janet Lee Needham and Richard M. Niemi. The Rev. M. S. Egge officiated at the 2 o’clock double ring ceremony which was followed by a buffet luncheon and reception in the church hall.
The bride’s white ballerina length dress was of nylon tulle and lace over satin fashioned with a strapless fitted lace bodice over which she wore a lace jacket. She carried white roses, lilies of the valley, and an orchid in her crescent shaped bridal bouquet.
Mrs. Richard Needham was matron of honor. Bridal aides were Miss Marjean Diels, Medford, and Miss Shirley Niemi, Owen. They were gowned in lime green and rose net frocks. Sprigs of holly formed their headdresses and they carried bouquets of red carnations and holly.
Attendants for the groom included Richard Needham, Owen, and Kenneth Mitchell, Withee. Charles Ivey and Alan Zelm ushered and Mark Needham, a nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
During the ceremony Claudette Lurass, Withee, sang "O Perfect Love" and Donald Peterson, Owen, sang "The Lord’s Prayer," Judith Behrens, Owen, was accompanist.
Out of town guests were from Gilman, Marshfield, Stanley, Medford, Thorp, Spencer, Withee, Jim Falls, Loyal, Greenwood, Wausau, Merrill, Milwaukee and Chicago.
The young couple will reside at 24 Burton St., Waukegan, Ill.
